Summer Break

It's hard to believe that summer is over, but I squeezed in as much as I could!

As soon as my niece and nephew were out of school, we headed all piled in my parents van and headed for Branson, Misouri.  There we saw many great shows and spent time at the Silver Dollar City amusement park as well as spent time downtown Branson.

On our way back we stopped at Great Wolf Lodge in Kansas.  If you are not familiar with this resort hotel, it has an indoor water park. We had a lot of fun hanging out there. Below is a pic of my father and I getting dumped on by a large water bucket that randomly soaks unsuspecting people below.

Once we were back in the great state of Colorado, I did some major cleaning and purging.  The Salvation Army came by three times for donation pick-ups.  It felt really good to get rid of stuff that I no longer use. Below is a pick of some of the bags of clothes that were donated.

My good college friend Jerry Brem was a featured artist in the Cherry Creek Art Festival.  This was his second year participating in this event.  He won a coveted Juror's Award, so he will be back again next year!

I FINALLY got to see Wicked.  It was such an amazing show that constantly ties itself to "The Wizard of Oz."  My whole family loved it!

As many of you know I have had some serious health issues involving my sinuses last year.  I finally saw a specialist and had surgery, which required quite a bit of recovery. Let's hope this helps keep me healthy this year!

During the summer I offer a few Art Clubs for the BASE students. This summer we had a great time working with acrylic paint, ceramics and Repousse. To see my blog post about the BASE Art Clubs on Mondays, click here.

Every summer I offer a couple of classes for the SOAR program at Rocky Heights Middle School.  Canvas and Creativity always a hit.  I had 21 students in that class! Click here to see more from the Canvas and Creativity class.

I also offered a Wearable Art class.  The students in that class created some awesome wearable art, including shoes, tote bags, shirts, hats...etc....   Click here to see more from the Wearable Art Class.

Mrs. Berndt and I completed the Manitou Inline. She has climbed it a few times before and had to slow her pace so that I could keep up.  I may have had to crawl in a couple spots, but I made it to the top!!!

This summer I had the pleasure adding another private lesson student.  Mandy worked on a couple paintings this summer. Below is a picture of her with her purple flower painting. She is quite the gifted artist!
